All Saints was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and consecrated in 1862, replacing a much smaller church on the same site. The new church was the generous gift of the Earl and Countess of Ripon. Frederick Robinson, Viscount Goderich and later Earl of Ripon, was Prime Minister from 1827 to 1828; the Countess, Sarah Albinia Hobart, was the daughter of the Fourth Earl of Buckinghamshire.
